Zelinka, Andreas#
b. Vyškov, Czech Republic (then Wischau), Feb. 23, 1802, d. Vienna, Jan. 21, 1868, lawyer. From 1831 commissioner of public health; later worked as a barrister; was elected municipal councillor of Vienna in 1848; Mayor of Vienna from 1861-1868; from 1862 member of the Lower Austrian Landtag and from 1867 member of the Upper Chamber of the Reichsrat. Contributed to the planning of the first water-supply pipeline for Vienna, which was to provide the city with spring water from Lower Austrian mountains, the regulation of the Danube and the foundation of the Vienna Central Cemetery.
